Bookish Bertelsmann benefits from print’s resilient popularity

Speaking at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2013, Markus Dohle, boss of Penguin Random House, did something chief executives do at their peril these days: he suggested the hype around digital disruption might be overdone. “Here at Frankfurt, 80 per cent is print, 20 per cent digital,” he said. “But the buzz at the book fair is 95 per cent digital, 5 per cent print.”
