According to a number of reports in the media, WPP is in ‘advanced talks’ regarding the possible acquisition of some divisions of Brazilian research agency IBOPE Group by its Kantar arm. Founded in 1942 by the Montenegro family, IBOPE (The Brazilian Institute of Public Opinion and Statistics) is headquartered in both Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with other offices in the country and bases in a dozen other Latin American states, as well as operations in the US.
